Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the appointment of Saki Kawamura as its 2024-2025 Directing Fellow. Kawamura will assist on Roundabout productions, work with the theatre's artistic team as a script reader, and develop a project of her choosing during her fellowship.
The fellowship was launched in 2017 to support early career directors with development opportunities, resources, and career assistance, particularly artist who have historically been denied equitable opportunities in the industry.
Roundabout has also announced the 2024-2025 Leon Levy Foundation Roundabout Directors Group, which provides assistance to emerging directors. The cohort includes Des’ree Brown, Zaina Yasmin Dana, Maya Quetzali Gonzalez, Neal Gupta, Chaesong Kim, Nicky Maggio “N”, Amiah McGinty, Samantha Toy Ozeas, Francesca Sabel, Marissa Joyce Stamps, and Gregory Keng Strasser. Former Roundabout Directing Fellow and Directors Group member Mack Brown will lead the cohort.
The Directors Group will meet monthly with established artists for mentorship and workshops on topics such as transitioning from assisting to directing, directing for TV/Film, self-producing, finding representation, and more.
