NewsSample Emotional Clips from Elaine May's All-Star Mike Nichols Documentary (Video)Mike Nichols, the late performer, writer and director who left an indelible mark on stage and screen, will be remembered in a PBS documentary directed by his one-time writing and performing partner, Elaine May, premiering Jan. 29.
Nichols, who began his career with Elaine May as "Nichols and May" in a series of wildly intelligent standup routines, which they took to Broadway and recordings, died Nov. 19, 2014.
In all, he directed 27 Broadway shows, and won eight Tony Awards, most recently for directing the 2012 revival of Death of a Salesman starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. His films include "The Graduate" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" His TV projects include adaptations of the Pulitzer Prize-winning plays Wit and Angels in America.
