The musical reopened in October 2021 following the shutdown and closed December 17, 2021. The closing followed a number of COVID-related performance cancellations and postponements.
The Diane Paulus-helmed production features choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui; music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Tom Kitt; music direction by Bryan Perri; sets by Tony nominee Riccardo Hernández; costumes by Emily Rebholz; lighting by Tony nominee Justin Townsend; sound design by Jonathan Deans; projection and video design by Lucy Mackinnon; and hair, wig, and make-up design by J. The play comes on the heels of a broader cultural conversation about Dahl's work and the prejudice that was embedded in many of his most beloved stories.
