The touring production of the 2020 Best Revival Tony winner is currently at the Kennedy Center through January 8, 2023.

The North American tour of Roundabout Theatre Company's A Soldier's Play is well underway following previews in New Haven, Connecticut, and a December 15 opening at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where it runs through January 8, 2023. Kenny Leon returns to direct his Best Revival Tony-winning production. 

Written by the late playwright Charles FullerA Soldier's Play follows a Black officer's race against his white leadership to unravel the crime of a Black sergeant's murder on a southern army base in 1944. Fuller won the Pulitzer Prize for the work in 1982, but the 2020 Roundabout revival was its Broadway premiere. 

The tour stars Tony nominee Norm Lewis as Captain Richard Davenport with Eugene Lee, who originated the role of Corporal Bernard Cobb in the original 1981 Off-Broadway production, as Sergeant Vernon C. Waters. The company also includes Will Adams, Brandon Alvión, Sheldon D. Brown, Malik Esoj Childs, Ja’Quán Cole, William Connell, Charles Everett, Alex Michael Givens, Matthew Goodrich, Chattan Mayes Johnson, Branden Davon Lindsay, Tarik Lowe, Al’Jaleel McGhee, Howard Overshown, and Alex Ross.

The Broadway creative team also returns for the tour, including set designer Derek McLane, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Allen Lee Hughes, sound designer Dan Moses Schreier, and associate director Cristina Angeles. The tour of A Soldier’s Play is produced by Roundabout Theatre Company and Tamar Climan.
