The Casting Society of America’s 2019 Artios Awards, which celebrate casting directors for film, TV, and theatre, were presented in bicoastal ceremonies January 31 in New York City and Los Angeles. The Los Angeles event was hosted by June Diane Raphael and SAG-Award winning actor Paul Scheer, and the New York event was hosted by Bridget Everett.
Among those awarded for their casting work on Broadway were Jim Carnahan (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Angels in America), Bethany Knox (Mean Girls), and Craig Burns (Once On This Island). Off-Broadway winners included Tara Rubin, Laura Schutzel, and Amy Potozkin for School Girls: or, The African Mean Girls Play, and David Caparelliotis and Lauren Port for Jesus Hopped the A Train.

This year’s honorees in New York included Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond, who received the Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award for outstanding commitment to New York entertainment. Los Angeles honorees included Laura Dern, who received the Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement; as well as Robert J. Ulrich, Eric Dawson, and Carol Kritzer, who received the Hoyt Bowers Award.
