Shirley MacLaine, who famously shot to fame when she went on for Carol Haney in the original Broadway production of The Pajama Game, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Industry Dance Awards & Cancer Benefit Show October 18 at Avalon Hollywood.
MacLaine's sister-in-law, Annette Bening, will present MacLaine with the honor, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Amanda Kloots will host the evening, which benefits the fight against cancer.
The ceremony, directed and choreographed by Jackie Sleight, will also honor Alison Faulk with the Dance Innovator Award Recipient, Jennifer Jones with the Dance Role Model Award Recipient, and Art and Nancy Stone with the Trailblazer Award.
The Industry Dance Awards and Dancers Against Cancer will also present the first Stephen “tWitch” Boss Legacy of Hope Scholarship. Boss, who died in December, spent nine years on The Ellen DeGeneres Show after getting his big break on So You Think You Can Dance.
MacLaine is an Academy Award winner for her performance in Terms of Endearment, and an Oscar nominee for Some Came Running, The Apartment, Irma la Douce, The Turning Point, and The Other Half of the Sky: A China Memoir.
