Young stars of Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, The Great Comet, Hello, Dolly!, and other recent shows have been enlisted by rising composer Sam Salmond to showcase songs from his in-progress musicals 7 PM July 31 at Feinstein’s/54 Below in Manhattan.
The Songs of Sam Salmond will be directed by Sarna Lapine, who staged Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway this past winter. Among the performers will be Will Roland (Dear Evan Hansen), Taylor Trensch (Hello, Dolly!), Jason Gotay (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Jo Lampert (Joan of Arc), Andrew Chappelle (Hamilton), Molly Hager (Waitress), Theo Stockman (American Idiot, American Psycho), Shoba Narayan (Great Comet), Jeremy Kushnier (Paramour), Preston Sadleir (Next to Normal), John-Michael Lyles (Sweeney Todd), Blaine Krauss (Great Comet), Bonnie Milligan (Jasper In Deadland), Natalie Walker, Michael Linden, Noah Zachary, Tam Young, Hana Slevin, Amanda Savan, Michael Kushner, and others.
Salmond won the 2016 Jonathan Larson Award, which is given to the authors of musicals in development. Among his many projects currently in development, Salmond is writing music and lyrics for an adaptation of Eighty-Sixed, the novel by humorist and AIDS activist David Feinberg.
The concert is being presented as part of Feinstein’s/54 Below’s New Writers at 54 series.
