Stephanie Hsu in Wicked in Concert: A Musical Celebration of the Iconic Broadway Score

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Broadway alum Stephanie Hsu, now Oscar nominated for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once, will take to the stage at the 95th annual Academy Awards ceremony to perform with David Byrne and Son Lux.

The film's trance-like ballad "This Is a Life" is Oscar nominated for Best Original Song at the ceremony. With music by Ryan Lott, David Byrne and Mitski, and lyrics by Lott and Byrne, it is expected that Hsu will step into the vocal performance line of Mitski from the film's original soundtrack.

While Hsu does not perform "This Is a Life" on the film's soundtrack, she does appear further down its track listing, on the song "Sucked Into A Bagel"—which is based on a melody Hsu improvised in her screen test and which she sings in the film.

Byrne is already an Oscar winner, for composing the original score for the 1987 film The Last Emperor, in collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Cong Su. Experimental music group Son Lux (Ryan Lott, Ian Chang and Rafiq Bhatia) is nominated this year for best original score for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Byrne is also represented on Broadway this year when his musical Here Lies Love, on which he co-wrote the songs, will open July 20 at the Broadway Theatre. Hsu got her professional start on Broadway, with Be More Chill and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.

The 95th Annual Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be held March 12 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
