As theatre companies and institutions begin to look forward to creating their next season, many are also looking to fill career development fellowships and residencies. From prizes for new musicals to actual on-the-job administrative career training, several programs exist throughout the New York and regional theatre communities to assist emerging theatre artists in finding their footing in the industry.

Check a few programs below with applications now open.

Relentless Musical Award
As previously announced, the Relentless Award, an annual playwriting prize created in honor of Philip Seymour Hoffman, will be presented this year to an unproduced musical in honor the late Tony-nominated composer Adam Schlesinger. Awarded by the American Playwriting Foundation and Building for the Arts, the winning submission will receive a $65,000 cash prize, with the selection committee placing special emphasis on "works that are fearless in their choice of subject matter, featuring passionate voices that are relentlessly truthful." The panel of judges includes Rachel Bloom, James Iha, Ann Yee, Lynn Nottage, Thomas Bradshaw, Sam Hollander, and Stephin Merrit. Submissions are open through March 1. For criteria details, visit AmericanPlaywritingFoundation.org.

All writers' costs are covered, including housing in New York's Hudson Valley, food, air travel up to $750, and a $500 stipend for each writer. The application deadline is February 9 for no fee, or February 16 with a $30 fee. More information can be at RhinebeckWriters.org.

Named in celebration of the U.S. Census Bureau’s projection that by the year 2050, there will be no single racial or ethnic majority in the United States, the NYTW fellowship seeks candidates who are underrepresented in theatre administration. It offers a year-long pad part-time fellowship in one field of interest including artistic, development, education and engagement, executive, finance and operations, marketing, and production management. Roundabout Directing Fellowship & Directors Group
Applications are now open for two of Roundabout Theatre Company's signature artists-in-residence programs: the Roundabout Directing Fellowship and the Leon Levy Foundation Roundabout Directors Group. The fellowship provides development opportunities, resources, and career assistance to early career directors, while the group provides an artistic community for directors at similar stages of their careers. Click here to register for an online information session on both programs, to be held February 7 at 5 PM ET.  The application deadline for both programs is March 10.
