The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival has launched its 2022 season with William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The production, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, started performances July 7 and officially opens July 22.
The cast includes Nance Williamson and Kurt Rhoads in the title roles, alongside Kimberly Chatterjee, Kayla Coleman, Erin Despanie, Zachary Fine, Zoë Goslin, Merritt Janson, Lauren Karaman, Sean McNall, Emily Ota, Will Ormsby Cary, Luis Quintero, Britney Nicole Simpson, Destini Stewart, and Roman Alec Trevino. Performances continue through September 18.
Romeo and Juliet features costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by Stacey Derosier, sound design by Darron West, and properties by Samantha Shoffner. Kimiye Corwin serves as choreographer/fight choreographer. The production also features music by Heather Christian and music direction by Saul Nache.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
