Shem Bitterman's The Civil Twilight has set a world premiere engagement at Los Angeles' Broadwater Studio Theatre. Performances will begin October 16 and continue through November 24, with an official opening October 18. Ann Hearn Tobolowsky will direct. 

The cast will feature Taylor Gilbert as Ann Carlson and Andrew Elvis Miller as John Pine. 

The Civil Twilight takes place over a single night during a once-in-a-century storm. When a popular radio personality winds up trapped in a motel room in the Midwest with his biggest fan, a deadly game of trust and recrimination is played.

“I got this idea traveling across the country to see my son at the University [of] Missouri where he is studying journalism," Bitterman said in a statement. "I was struck by how the economic, cultural and population decline of Midwestern towns has left among those who remain an opening where hucksters and charlatans can, for a few bucks or some cheap outrage, offer a path to desperately needed change. In these areas, despite widespread disillusionment, hope lives on—in fact, hope is often all that is left.” 

The creative team includes production designer Joel Daavid, sound designer Chris Moscatiello, costume designer Jenna Bergstraesser, and production stage manager Andreya Nevarez. The production also features an original score by Roget Bellon. 

The Civil Twilight is presented by Plays With People Productions in association with the Road Theatre Company. Danna Hyams is producing.
