Red Bull Theater has announced it will continue its Revelation Readings series with the American premiere of John Wolfson's The Inn at Lydda, a Meeting of Caesar and Christ. The one-night-only reading is set for 7:30 PM Monday, November 13 at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater at Symphony Space.
Ben Prusiner directs a cast featuring Samuel Adams (Amadeus at The Folger), Amir Arison (The Kite Runner), Rajesh Bose (Life of Pi), Teagle Bougere (Coriolanus at The Public Theater), Leovina Charles (Lempicka at La Jolla Playhouse), Joe Holt (AMC's The Walking Dead: Homecoming), Anthony Michael Martinez (Romeo & Juliet at CSC), Alfredo Narciso (The Motherf**ker with the Hat), Christopher Joel Onken (The Inheritance), Jay O. Sanders (Purlie Victorious), and Sam Tsoutsouvas (Our Country's Good).
Wolfson's play depicts a face-to-face meeting between Tiberius Caesar and Jesus Christ. Caesar has heard of a miraculous healer for his mortal illness and sets sail for Jerusalem, hoping to speak with Jesus.
Red Bull Theater's Obie-Award winning Revelation Readings aim to mount rarely-produced classic plays, as well as new works. Future presentations include The Revenge by Edward Young, Molière's The Imaginary Invalid adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, and William Shakespeare's Antony & Cleopatra and The Tempest.
