Many theatre folk contributed to the major contending films this year, especially "Spotlight" and "Room." Among those who heard their names called Jan. 14 were Tony winners Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance and Bryan Cranston, Tony nominee Mark Ruffalo, upcoming Crucible star Saoirse Ronan and others.
Broadway, film, TV and standup star Chris Rock will host host the Feb. 28 ceremony to be broadcast live on NBC-TV.
David Hill and Reginald Hudlin will produce the awards ceremony. They replace Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who hosted for the past several years, and brought Broadway stars Neil Patrick Harris and Hugh Jackman to the podium.
