Full casting has been revealed for the upcoming Broadway bow of Emma Donoghue's Room, set to begin at the James Earl Jones Theatre April 3. Opening night is April 17, with the limited engagement scheduled to continue through September 17.

Ain't Too Proud Tony nominee Ephraim Sykes will make a Broadway return starring as SuperJack, superhero alter ego of Little Jack. Alternating in the role of Little Jack will be child actors Aiden Mekhi Sierra and Christopher Woodley. They joins the previously announced Tony winner Adrienne Warren, leading the cast as Ma.

Also newly joining the cast are are three-time Tony nominee and Emmy nominee Kate Burton (The Constant Wife, Hedda Gabler, The Elephant Man) as Grandma, Tina Benko (The Rose Tattoo, The Crucible) as Interviewer/Police Officer, Michael Genet (The Prom, Choir Boy) as Grandpa/Doctor, and Triney Sandoval (Bernhardt/Hamlet, Marvin’s Room) as Old Nick. Serving as understudies will be Alexis Gordon, who starred as Ma in the play's North American premiere, in her Broadway debut; and Anthony Chatmon II (HadestownBe More Chill).

Based on Donoghue's 2010 best-selling novel of the same name, Room follows a kidnapped mother who has been trapped in a room for seven years, and her six year old son Jack, who has never known the outside world. The work was previously adapted for the screen in 2015 with a screenplay by Donoghue, receiving Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations. This adaptation features songs and music by Cora Bissett and fellow Scottish singer-songwriter Kathryn Joseph.

Bissett will direct, having previously helmed staging the 2017 world premiere, with set and costume design by Lily Arnold, projection design by Andrzej Goulding, lighting design by Bonnie Beecher, sound design by Justin Ellington, choreography and movement by Galen Hooks, orchestrations and arrangements by Roddy Hart and Tommy Reilly, and music direction by Greg Kenna. Casting is by Jim Carnahan Casting.

The work premiered in 2017 at Theatre Royal Stratford East in London, and transferred to the Abbey Theatre in Dublin last year. The play made its North American premiere in London, Ontario in 2022 after a planned 2020 run was cancelled due to COVID-19. That production later transferred to Toronto, playing its final performance May 8, 2022.

Room will be produced on Broadway by Sam Julyan, James Yeoburn, ShowTown Productions, and Hunter Arnold. ShowTown Theatricals is serving as general managers.
