Tony nominee Pablo Schreiber will appear in the upcoming feature film First Man, chronicling the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong and the mission that led him to be the first man to walk on the moon, according to Deadline.
Directed by Oscar winner Damien Chazelle (La La Land), Schreiber will star as Jim Lovell opposite Ryan Goslin as Armstrong. Lovell was the commander of Apollo 13 and is one of 24 people to have rocketed to the moon. First Man also stars Jon Bernthal as Dave Scott, Claire Foy as Janet Shearon, Kyle Chandler as Deke Slayton, Jason Clarke as Edward Higgins White, Drama Desk nominee Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin, and three-time Tony nominee Brian d'Arcy James as Joseph A. Walker.
Schreiber made his Broadway debut in Awake and Sing! in 2006 with Lincoln Center Theater. He earned a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play as Ralph Berger. He won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance as part of that cast. In 2009, he won a Drama Desk for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for reasons to be pretty. That same year, he returned to Broadway in Desire Under the Elms.
Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
