Tony Winner Nathan Lane Will Appear on The Blacklist’s 100th Episode

Come 2018, Nathan Lane returns to Broadway in the rave-reviewed London transfer of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America. Turns out, 2018 will also see him guest star on ABC’s The Blacklist.

Lane will play the episode’s criminal of the week, Abraham Stern, who manipulates the hopeless into committing crimes so he can ultimately claim the fortune he was born into.

“Nathan Lane is someone we’ve wanted to have on the The Blacklist for a very long time, so when we started crafting our 100th episode we decided to try and do something special and write a part specifically with Nathan in mind,” said executive producer Jon Bokenkamp. “Imagine our excitement when he said yes! We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him to the Blacklist family of criminals, weirdos and nut-jobs. I promise, watching Nathan Lane and James Spader together on screen is going to be an absolute blast.”

Lane most recently starred on Broadway as Walter Burns in the 2016 revival of The Front Page, for which he earned a Tony nomination. Prior to that, he starred opposite Matthew Broderick, Megan Mullally, Stockard Channing, F. Murray Abraham, and Micah Stock in It’s Only a Play. Lane earned a Tony nomination for his performance in 2013’s The Nance. He originated the roles of Gomez Addams in The Addams Family musical and Max Bialystock in The Producers, for which he earned his second Tony Award. He won his first Tony as Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Lane has also starred on the Main Stem in Waiting for Godot, November, Butley, The Odd Couple, The Frogs, The Play That I Wrote, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Guys and Dolls (for which he earned his first Tony nomination), On Borrowed Time, Some Americans Abroad, Wind in the Willows, Merlin, and Present Laughter.

Lane has been a recurring guest star on Modern Family and played the role of Herschel in the indie film No Pay, Nudity. He also starred in the hit motion picture The Birdcage.

The Blacklist installment featuring Lane will air on a date to be announced in January 2018.
