The Axelrod Performing Arts Center production of Sunday in the Park with George is now playing through March 24, after beginning performances March 8. See highlights from the show in the video above.
They are joined on stage by Kevin Arnold, Giuliana Augello, Anthony Cataldo, Katie Davis, Bridget Gooley, James C. Harris, Isabel Lagana, Ella Mangano, Dylan Randazzo, Allie Seibold, and six dancers from the Axelrod Contemporary Ballet Theater Company: Alyssa Harris, Giana Carroll, Lindsay Jorgensen, Olivia Miranda, Sarah Takash, and Gillian Worek.
The limited engagement also features music direction by Jacob Yates, scenic design by Ryan Howell, costume design by DW Withrow, projection design by Brad Peterson, lighting design by Paul Miller, and additional wig design by J. Jared Janas.
Dave Zuckerman is the executive producer, and Robin Foley, Nancy Karpf, and Katie Birenboim are co-producers.
Sunday in the Park With George opened on Broadway in 1984 starring Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters and subsequently received Tony Awards for Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design. The Pulitzer Prize for Drama followed in 1985.
Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
