Keala Settle is back on the stage—in Australia. The former cast member of Broadway's Waitress just stepped into the role of Nurse Angélique in the Australian version of the hit musical & Juliet. The production runs until July 12 at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney. See Settle show offer her take of the show-stopping song "F****n' Perfect in the video above, in a duet with Casey Donovan, who Settle succeeded June 19.
Settle originated the role of Becky in the original Broadway cast of Waitress. Her other credits include playing Madame Thénardier in the 2014 Broadway revival of Les Misérables and Lettie Lutz in the musical film The Greatest Showman (she sang "This Is Me").
Australia is the latest international production for the hit musical & Juliet, which uses the songs of pop songwriter Max Martin to tell the story of what would happen if Juliet did not kill herself at the end of Shakespeare's tragic play. The show, which originated in the West End before moving to Broadway (where it's currently still running), features a book by David West Read. It also has a currently running American tour, an upcoming U.K. tour, and an upcoming production in Germany.
The Australian production currently features Lorinda May Merrypor as Juliet, Amy Lehpamer as Anne Hathaway, Rob Mills as Shakespeare, Hayden Tee as Lance, Blake Appelqvist as Romeo, Jesse Dutlow as May, and Yashith Fernando as Francois.
