Second Stage Theatre has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of Leslye Headland’s The Layover. The world premiere, billed as a “psychological thriller,” is set to feature Vinyl star Annie Parisse and Broadway’s John Procaccino (Clybourne Park).
The cast, directed by Trip Cullman, also features Quincy Dunn-Baker (Draft Day), Arica Himmel, Adam Rothenberg (Danny and the Deep Blue Sea) and Amelia Workman (Natasha, Pierre…). Performances will begin August 9, and the show will officially open August 25 at Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theatre.
Headland’s new play takes place during an airport layover on Thanksgiving. “Ever wonder who that stranger is sitting next to you? What is their story? What are they hiding?” ask production notes. “Shellie and Dex dare to answer these questions after their flight is delayed on a snowy Thanksgiving night. What they discover about themselves, and each other, sends both of their lives into upheaval. A psychological thriller from the darkly funny writer of Bachelorette, The Layover asks the question: Can you ever really get to know somebody when you're hiding so much yourself?”
The production will feature scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Fitz Patton and video design by Jeff Sugg.
Tickets for The Layover are available at 2ST.com, by calling the box office at (212) 246-4422, or by visiting the Tony Kiser Theatre at 305 West 43rd Street.
