Broadway’s My Fair Lady pulls back the curtain on the recording studio as Tony nominees Lauren Ambrose and Harry Hadden-Paton, and their co-star Allan Corduner lay down the track for “The Rain in Spain.”

The Broadway Records cast album of the Tony-nominated revival was released June 8. The recording, produced by David Lai and Ted Sperling, features Ambrose as Eliza Doolittle, Hadden-Paton as Henry Higgins, Norbert Leo Butz as Alfred P. Doolittle, (who each earned Tony nominations for their performances), as well as Corduner as Colonel Pickering, Jordan Donica as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, Linda Mugleston as Mrs. Pearce, and Manu Narayan as Zoltan Karpathy (Clarke Thorell recently assumed the role). The production also stars Diana Rigg as Mrs. Higgins, who earned a Tony nomination for her performance.

The production’s ensemble features Cameron Adams, Shereen Ahmed, Kerstin Anderson, Heather Botts, John Treacy Egan, Rebecca Eichenberger, SuEllen Estey, Christopher Faison, Steven Trumon Gray, Adam Grupper, Michael Halling, Joe Hart, Sasha Hutchings, Kate Marilley, Liz McCartney, Justin Lee Miller, Rommel Pierre O’Choa, Keven Quillon, JoAnna Rhinehart, Tony Roach, Lance Roberts, Blair Ross, Christine Cornish Smith, Paul Slade Smith, Samantha Sturm, Matt Wall, Michael Williams, Minami Yusui, and Lee Zarrett.

“The Rain in Spain” highlights the moment when flower girl Eliza Doolittle finally grasps the elite English pronunciation of the tongue-twisters linguist Henry Higgins has been forcing her to repeat for hours on end.

Featuring such songs as “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” “On the Street Where You Live,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face,” the album showcases the production’s 29-piece orchestra and original musical arrangements by Robert Russell Bennett and Phil Lang, with dance arrangements by Trude Rittmann. The orchestra can also be seen in the video above.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, the new production was nominated for ten Tony Awards. Written by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, the latest mounting features choreography by Christopher Gattelli, costume design by Catherine Zuber, scenic design by Michael Yeargan, lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by Marc Salzberg, hair and wig design by Tom Watson, and casting by Telsey + Co.
