On November 10, Lin-Manuel Miranda visited Ellen DeGeneres on the set of her Los Angeles talk show for the first time.
Miranda, who recently won two Tony Awards for his book and score of Hamilton, has become known for his incredible ability not only to write powerful rap, but to improvise. He’s done it many times on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. This time, DeGeneres prompted Miranda with a frustrating situation and asked him to drop some knowledge.
The actor-writer spoke about the election results, his success on Broadway, and even making mistakes onstage. “There are 23,000 words in the show,” he said. “You’re gonna mess some of them up.”
He also spoke about his recent family trip to Austria and recreating The Sound of Music with his dad, Luis Miranda, as Maria.
