London News West End Stereophonic Finds Full Cast

The David Adjmi play made history last year by earning 13 Tony Award nominations, the most of any play, ever.

Stereophonic, the 2024 Tony-winning Best Play, has found full casting for its previously announced West End transfer. The production, which closed on Broadway earlier this year after an extended and recouped run, will roar back to life in May at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre beginning May 24. Opening night will be June 12 and the run will continue through September 20.

Newly announced cast members include Zachary Hart as Reg, Lucy Karczewski as Diana, Jack Riddiford as Peter, and Nia Towle as Holly. They join three previously announced cast members who are reprising their roles from the Broadway production: Andrew R. Butler as Charlie, Eli Gelb as Grover, and Chris Stack as Simon.

Understudies for the production will include Sam Denia, Rima Georges, Lucy Gray, and Steve Shirley.

Written by David Adjmi, Stereophonic follows an unnamed '70s rock band recording their sophomore album. It features original music by Will Butler, formerly of the band Arcade Fire. The play made history last year by earning 13 Tony Award nominations, the most of any play, ever. It went on to win five categories, including Best Play, Best Director (Daniel Aukin), Best Featured Actor (Will Brill), Best Scenic Design (David Zinn) and Best Sound Design (Ryan Rumery). 

The creative team includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Enver Chakartash, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, orchestrators Butler and Justin Craig, sound designer Ryan Rumery, music director Craig, and hair and wig designers Robert Pickens and Katie Gell.

UK Casting is by Julia Horan, with US Casting by Alaine Alldaffer, Lisa Donadio, and Taylor Williams. Stereophonic is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Seaview, Linden Productions, Ashley Melone and Nick Mills, and Playwrights Horizons.
