Performances begin September 30 for the world premiere of Adam Bock’s A Life, directed by Anne Kauffman (Marjorie Prime). Leading the cast of the Playwrights Horizons production is Tony and Emmy winner David Hyde Pierce.
Pierce plays Nate Martin in the new play, scheduled to officially open October 24, a hopelessly single man in the wake of another failed relationship. “When his most recent breakup, another in a lifelong string of ill-fated matches, casts him into a funk, he turns to the only source of wisdom he trusts: the stars,” state press notes. “Poring over astrological charts, he obsessively questions his past and his place in the cosmos. But in Adam Bock’s disarming new play, the answer he receives, when it comes, is shockingly obvious – and totally unpredictable.”
Joining Pierce are Marinda Anderson, Brad Heberlee, Nedra McClyde and Lynne McCollough. See photos of the cast meeting the press below:
Performances take place in the company’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The production features scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Matt Frey and sound design by Mikhail Fiksel. Production stage manager is Erin Gioia Albrecht.
