Rupert Holmes' Tony Award-winning musical whodunit The Mystery of Edwin Drood received its first Broadway revival. Among the cast is Chita Rivera.
Stephanie J. Block assumed the role of Reno Sweeney in the Tony Award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company staging of Anything Goes. The production ended its run July 8.

The favorite part of my evening pre-show ritual is to “facetime” for dinner and bath-time with my little guy! (Oh and check out what I found around the corner, my Canadian friends! Timmy’s, baby!!!)
On this day I take my food up to dine with Ms. Mueller and she and Ms. Wolfe’s sumptuous dressing room. Ignore her mug!
Then it’s off to the Mezz lobby for some Physical Therapy with Carolyn. She takes care of me!
Sure enough. Voting totals were posted. Sorry Neville. Sister power.
One of my all time favorite things. And the novelty never wares off. Is when those moments happen and you are alone in a Broadway theatre. Standing on the stage. Nobody else is there. No ushers, no crew, no nobody! And I’m actually allowed to be there! I

So many people want to meet SJB and she is the queen of being gracious at the stage door!
Went and grabbed a little food and headed back to the theatre through the front door. This is what people see when they are entering our world. Love it!
Incidentally… Durdles was picked as Murderer (as evidenced by Nicholas’ chart) one time and one time only. If you have made it this far into the pictures… then you are a dedicated theatre person and I suggest you rally your friends and come vote Durdles!!

On the way for Act 2 there’s Chita and her dresser Rosie. Can you tell from this picture what a warm and wonderful person Chita is? I hope you can. I’m a little bit in love. It’s ok., my wife knows.
So at intermission, I am the last one to clear the stage, and I bump into Nick Corley, the Music Hall Royale’s stage manager, on his way out to sweep up the fake snow. Look at that excitement!!
…and the Landless siblings are causing trouble!
When I head back to the dressing room after my first Durdles chunk of the show, dashing Reverend Chrisparkle is always in that very spot.
I wish you could see all the little fist bumps, high-fives, fanny slaps etc that become part of your track as the run of a show goes on. In this case, if Jessie and Jess (Will’s dresser) weren’t there to high-five me, the world might come to an end.
Headed to the stage and there is Kate, SJB’s dresser, always ready with a smile on the way by!
On my way to do back up vocals for the end of Chita’s “Wages Of Sin” I see they are set up for the sexy Opium Den scene! It is smokin’!
I just want to say for the record…that I am in a show with Chita Rivera. And there she is. And here I am. And life is good.

Jen and Justin “swing” the show. That is the toughest job in the building as they are not on for every performance but must remain at the ready to go on in any of the ensemble tracks. Apparently they stay loose with the shakey weights.
Lori Doyle drives the ship from stage right and I say hello as I run from in the audience on to the stage for “THERE YOU ARE” the opening number.
…I visit Jake at the bar, who may or may not have filled the very bottom of that glass with Johnny Walker Black. I may or may not then swish and drink that so people can smell it I when we go kibitz with the audience.

Andy sees the camera and lets it rip. Peter says “Matinee Tony!” Huh? “Saturday Night Fever...Matinee Tony!” And so he was.
At “PLACES” many of us head through the basement of the theatre, and go up the stairs to the back of the Orchestra section where the bar is! Zach is always there waiting!
Our Chairman and actor extraordinaire Jim Norton chills out before blasting off in the show. Actors are creatures of habit. Routine. I love that element of it all. Every single day you would find Jim in this exact position at this exact time.

One of the best actors and greatest movie stars of all time James Cagney. A pic of Cagney has been with me in every one of my dressing rooms for the last 15 years. Someone once asked me “What show were you in when they took that picture?”

We really can’t get enough of that B train.
I FaceTime with my boyfriend every night after the show. He’s a resident at UPenn Hospital, and sometimes he has to work nights, hence the scrubs. You watch "Grey’s Anatomy," you know what I’m talking about.

I’ve just made some tea with honey. I use my Devious Maids thermos for said tea. I get a lot of flak from the actors for using this thermos, but it’s a wonderful thermos, and I honestly think they’re just jealous.
Luke is usually the second cast member to arrive. We do Alexander and breathing work together in the mezzanine before every show.
Meet Ben! He’s my understudy. We’re all convinced that he actually lives at the theater. Quite possibly in this cot. As you’ll see over the course of the day, he never seems to leave the Equity cot.

Now I check in with the lovely ladies of our stage management team. This is Mel, Sam, and Cat (she doesn’t even go by that, but she lets me call her that). Meow.
I could write an ode to the B train. Truly. I get on this puppy two blocks away from my apartment, avoid Times Square, and get dropped off right at the theater. FUN FACT: When I was a young boy I LOVED Times Square. I would get off the train from Philadelphia and RUN to Times Square, get a ticket to a Broadway show, and then eat at Ellen’s Stardust Diner (which I dreamt about working at when I got older).

Winding down after the show--reading (new plays mostly and just picked up Sotomayor’s memoir), preliminary prep for a couple of voice-over and pilot auditions, checking e-mails, Facebook, snacking, catching up on phone calls, brainstorming new adventures…
We have a lot of time between shows (our 2pm matinee finishes about 3:40pm), so Saturdays, we sometimes watch movies. Here, the boys troubleshoot technical difficulties.

As I turned for my gym I passed them “loading-out” The Performers. It closed prematurely a few days before. When any show closes quickly it always feels like the death of a distant cousin. You’re not directly connected, but it’s a loss.

This two show day started by catching the bus from my home in NJ. Notice two busses arriving. I took NJ TRANSIT. The other is a jitney on which you often risk your life. I take that one too sometimes.

I FaceTime with my boyfriend every night after the show. He’s a resident at UPenn Hospital, and sometimes he has to work nights, hence the scrubs. You watch "Grey’s Anatomy," you know what I’m talking about.
We really can’t get enough of that B train.

These are my good luck charms. This is Buddha, Ganesh, and my late grandmother’s wishing token. I kiss the token before every act.
I’ve just made some tea with honey. I use my Devious Maids thermos for said tea. I get a lot of flak from the actors for using this thermos, but it’s a wonderful thermos, and I honestly think they’re just jealous.

Luke is usually the second cast member to arrive. We do Alexander and breathing work together in the mezzanine before every show.
Sas is another early arriver. She’s about to put her weave in, which you can see is resting on her dressing room table.
This is our sign in board. I’m usually the first to arrive.
Now I check in with the lovely ladies of our stage management team. This is Mel, Sam, and Cat (she doesn’t even go by that, but she lets me call her that). Meow.

I could write an ode to the B train. Truly. I get on this puppy two blocks away from my apartment, avoid Times Square, and get dropped off right at the theater. FUN FACT: When I was a young boy I LOVED Times Square. I would get off the train from Philadelphia and RUN to Times Square, get a ticket to a Broadway show, and then eat at Ellen’s Stardust Diner (which I dreamt about working at when I got older).
It takes a pharmacy to look this good.

Just got to the stage door for a two show day! It's always nice to be greeted by the coolest doormen in NYC.

We're starting to plan our wedding for next year. Exciting? Yes. Stressful? Double yes.
Food! I love when my fiancé John visits. He's an amazing cook. Otherwise I'd be eating pop tarts, lunchables and dunkaroos.
John's awake now too so I can open the blinds! I love the view from my window. There's nothing like waking up to New York City.

Two shows done, I head down to the lobby to meet up with my old friend Meredith, in town from New Orleans.
Head to the West Bank Café for post-show revelry with Meredith, Scott and Justin.
The amazing Suzanne Bertish (I am secretly obsessed with her).
In action, wig cap and all…
BUT, need a little caffeine jolt, so grab a medium skim latte from Starbucks on the way…
At The Black Box, where Coach Joseph Campbell (that is his actual name) has us sign in on the infamous white board.
Winding down after the show--reading (new plays mostly and just picked up Sotomayor’s memoir), preliminary prep for a couple of voice-over and pilot auditions, checking e-mails, Facebook, snacking, catching up on phone calls, brainstorming new adventures…
We have a lot of time between shows (our 2pm matinee finishes about 3:40pm), so Saturdays, we sometimes watch movies. Here, the boys troubleshoot technical difficulties.

With the exception of Rebecca, we all play multiple characters in this piece. Here are a few of my many faces.
Brendan, wig maestro, getting it done.
We are serious about our pin curls.
From the basement wig station, I climb 6 flights up to what we fondly call “Siberia” where my dressing room is. En route, I run into Sucha, a native from Russia and one of our fantastic dressers. I do know she likes Chobani yogurt and Richard Simmons.
Some of our incomparable, multi-talented crew.
Me and the lovely Ashley Bell.
Carly, our fabulous company manager, and company canine, Bailey.
Spotted fellow pandas— and international ones, at that! These girls were on vacation from Bulgaria. Pandas are an endangered species, so I jumped on the opportunity to meet them. Good thing I had my panda in my bag for a quick change.
I love NY— always randomly running into friends. Here with Henry Russell Bergstein…
…and then, Josh De La Cruz. He is rehearsing Aladdin next door to our theater and just tore his meniscus. Flying carpets can be dangerous and introduce you to a whole new world of pain. (Sorry, couldn’t resist).
Whole Foods’ Coffee Bar for some green juice and the Ultimate Breakfast of Champions: a Chocolate Peppermint Luna Bar and Large Decaf (I know I know) cup of Coffee with lots of skim milk.
