DESCRIPTION

Oh Hanukkah! - fun, family show, daytime performances listed below in CT

By Adrienne MacIain

Directed by Stephanie Scherr

Get ready to laugh, cheer, and get a history lesson like never before! In "Oh Hanukkah!", M.C. Maccabee live-streams the epic showdown between a cray-cray king who thinks he's the star of the show and the heroic Maccabees ready to save the day (and their temple). With an ancient setting but totally modern vibes, this hilarious and heartwarming show brings history to life with battles, glitter, and even treif-related drama. It’s like your favorite TikTok but with miracles and candy – come for the laughs, stay for the history!

Looking for:

1 teenage live streamer - woman late teens early 20s

1 soothsayer/Jewish sister/pedlar - woman 20s-30s

1 minion - girl 8-12 years old

Greek King - man late 20s-40s

3 Soldiers, two of these roles also double as Jews - men late teens-30s

Auditions: Sunday, October 13rd, 2024 from 12:00-3:00pm at 2954 Fairfield Ave, Black Rock CT 06605. Auditions by appointment only. To book an appointment go to lookuplab.org

Preparation: This is an original play. A fun, irreverent adaptation of the story of Hanukkah. Some roles double, and will be both Greeks and Jews. Come prepared with a short comedic monologue (a minute or less). And you may also be asked to read sides. If you are auditioning for the teenage live streamer prepare something that includes some current slang.
