DESCRIPTION

TERM: Ideal candidate is available through the rest of the 2024/2025 Season (through Aug 3, 2025), but will entertain a shorter agreement as well). The remainder of the A.C.T. of CT season includes the following productions/programs: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, FEW WORDS: A DANCE CYCLE (a new work), WAITRESS, Season Announcement Gala, Summer Educational programs. Throughout the initial employment period, we will meet to evaluate performance and needs. Term may be extended upon mutual agreement.


RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

In consultation with the Director(s) and Artistic Director, create a list of props and furniture needed for each main stage production, special program, and/or educational program.

Be in communication with Director(s), Artistic Director, Producing Director, Set Designer(s), and Production Manager to discuss concepts, execute design, maintain budget and evaluate and provide choices. It is understood that the Props Supervisor has been tasked by the Directors of the Plays to be the "artistic" advisor on the look of the props, and set dressing.

Oversee, supervise, and participate in the organization, adjustments, repairs and/or replacement of props throughout the rehearsal period up to and including the run of the Play(s).

Attend rehearsals and with Stage Management & Stage Supervisor, help facilitate backstage needs. (Presets, run of show tracking, etc.).

Work with Director(s) and Stage Management Team to support running needs for the production (e.g., perishables; cleaning needs throughout rehearsal and performances).

Attend production meetings.

For all rehearsals, provide ‘stand in’ items until such time as actual items are available.

Work backstage during performances. Work includes supervising presets, run of show, and post show reset, cleaning, repair, etc.

Ensure all props are safe for use by actors and crew, adhering to relevant safety regulations.

Provide Producing Director/Production Manager a list of credits for items on loan or donated.

Track prop expenses and ensure adherence to the allocated budget. Negotiate prices with vendors and suppliers.

Be available for work calls, as needed.

Be available immediately following the closing performance to begin sorting all props as directed by Production Manager.

Responsible for overseeing and/or arranging the return of any rented or borrowed props after closing.

Supervise the inventory, cataloguing, and storage of new and existing Company props

Provide final paperwork and receipts to the Production Manager.

MORE INFORMATION:

Reports directly to the Production Manager.

This is a position where nights, weekends, early mornings are required from time to time (particularly while in load in, load out, tech rehearsals and production).

Qualities required: detail oriented, excellent communication skills, organized, self-starter, collaborative, positive attitude. Experience in building, sourcing, and creating props required.

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

SALARY: $17 to $20 / hour

PAY PERIOD: Weekly, paid on a week-lag

HOUSING: Housing may be available. Applicants need not be local to NY or CT, to apply.
