ABOUT THE POSITION
As an Usher, you have the opportunity to shape a patron’s first impression of Symphony Space, and to shift someone from a first-time audience member to a returning guest. As such, you are an ambassador for Symphony Space and are an integral part of the Front of House team. You will be trained in all house procedures and your work periodically reviewed by the House Managers to whom you report.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Welcome audience members to our venue upon entrance and assist them with finding their seat location
● Scan or examine tickets to ensure they are correct for the specific performance
● Assure that safety and security standards are met (including COVID-related protocols) and assist as needed
● Aid guests with disabilities or other special needs
● Enforce performance rules throughout the show
● Help resolve patron conflicts about seat location
● Refer all escalated interactions to the House Manager
● Follow all emergency procedures regarding venue evacuation
● Maintain a professional appearance (in accordance with the Symphony Space ushers dress code) and a friendly demeanor

● Excellent customer service skills
● Exemplary communication skills
● Warm, friendly, and reliable
● Interest in being a problem solver and in resolving conflict swiftly
● Ability to maintain a flexible and diverse work schedule with a weekly schedule of 10-15 hours generally available. Daytime and/or evening. Weekend availability is a must
