SYNOPSIS:

In Gilbert and Sullivan's 1882 operetta, the fairy Iolanthe, who was banished from Fairyland for marrying a mortal, is pardoned by her Queen. Upon learning that Iolanthe's son, Strephon, is in love with Phyllis, a ward in chancery, the fairies pledge their aid to Strephon in obtaining the Lord Chancellor's consent to be married.
