The New York Times recently called Dmitry Krymov “one of the world’s finest theatermakers.” For this new adaptation of The Cherry Orchard, the world-renowned Russian director collaborates with the Wilma’s acclaimed HotHouse Acting Company to blast apart one of theater’s enduring masterworks. Volleyballs and sunflower seeds fly, while a giant mechanical train station flipboard tells the future … plus more surprises await in Krymov’s inventive re-interpretation.

SYNOPSIS: The old order collides with the new as a charming but impractical aristocratic family refuses to face economic reality. This bittersweet tragi-comedy examines the end of the feudal era in Russia and the great changes that would eventually result in Revolution.

Directed by Dmitry Krymov

Featuring Krista Apple, Justin Jain, Ross Beschler, Lindsay Smiling, Matteo Scammell, Suli Holum, Campbell O'Hare, Sarah Gliko, Brett Ashley Robinson, Trevor W. Fayle, Jaime Maseda
