Is Annaleigh Ashford becoming a scream queen? First Broadway's seminal horror musical Sweeney Todd, then the upcoming horror-thriller film Dust (with Sarah Paulson), and now a true crime series about a serial killer known as Happy Face?!
According to Hollywood Reporter, Ashford has been cast to play Melissa Moore, who discovered as a teen that her father was a serial killer. Based on the podcast Happy Face and Moore's autobiography Shattered Silence, the series will follow Moore as she deals with the aftermath of her father's crimes and the mark its made on her own identity.
Robert and Michelle King will executive produce the eight-episode series, set to release on Paramount+ in 2025. Michael Showalter will direct the pilot. Production begins this year.
