Oh sure, you can see Christiane Noll, Anne Runolfsson, Judy Blazer and Jessica Molaskey on Broadway, but you can also see them in readings of brand new musicals that have come out of New York's Musical Theatre Works. Billed as "Fresh Voices from the MTW Writers Lab," the Workshop's Spring Reading Festival will offer excerpts from seven works in progress.

Here's the line-up:
The Mistress Cycle, by Jennifer Giering & Beth Blatt, directed by Ted Sperling. (June 6 & 9). Featured are Judy Blazer and John Cunningham (both from Titanic), Brenda Braxton (Smokey Joe's Cafe), Jessica Molaskey (Dream), Mary Beth Piel and Tovah Feldshuh.

Excerpts from three musicals will be read June 13 & 16: Beasts And Saints, by Dan Meese and Mindi Dickstein, directed by Gordon Greenberg; Suburb by David Javerbaum & Robert Cohen, directed by Caroline Rendell; and Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin by Kirstein Childs, directed by Ilene Kristen and Lisa Leguillo.
Appearing in Beasts will be Anne Runolfsson (Victor/Victoria, Cyrano), Jeff Blumenkrantz (How To Succeed In Business), Brooks Ashmanskas (Dream), Peter Jacobson (Picasso At The Lapin Agile, June Moon), and Michelle Blakely (Grease!).
Appearing in Suburb will be Christiane Noll (Jekyll & Hyde), Danny Gurwin (Sideshow), Julia Murney, Virginia Sandifur and Alix Korey (No Way To Treat A Lady).
Appearing in Bubbly Black Girl will be PaShean Wilson (Once On This Island).

Set for June 20 & 23 will be excerpts from Theo Tallis, Tailor, by John Mercurio, directed by Bill Luscomb; and The Sweet By And By by Maria Seigenthaler & Robert Lee. Tallis will feature Violet's Amanda Posner and Kirk McDonald; no cast has been announced for The Sweet By And By.

Last up will be Paul Scott Goodman's Him & her, directed by Miriam Gordon. Goodman will appear in the show, along with other cast-members who have yet to be announced. Says spokesperson Bob Fennell, "Musical Theatre Works is the only company in New York dedicated solely to the development of new works and writing talent for the musical theatre." Sisterella, Topper, Ruthless! have all been developed at MTW and moved on to bigger things.
