A group of Broadway producers have banded together to create a new organization aimed at increasing collaboration among colleagues. The founding board comprises producers Jamie deRoy, Wendy Federman, Jessica R. Jenen, Alia Jones-Harvey, Phil Kenny, Jim Kierstead, Heni Koenigsberg, Jack Lane, Joey Monda, Miles David Romney, and Clint Ramos.
Among planned activities for the group are networking events, an online membership database, a platform for sharing resources, open dialogues, educational workshops and seminars, and mentorship programs.
The alliance is not the first industry organization of Broadway producers. The Broadway League, best known to theatre fans as a co-producer of The Tony Awards, is a trade organization with both producers and theatre owners in its membership, primarily established to facilitate collective bargaining between otherwise disparate producers and the various Broadway unions, along with promoting and supporting the financial growth of the Broadway and national tour industries.
“We believe that strong networking is essential for the future growth and resilience of Broadway,” says Federman in a statement. “The Broadway Producers Alliance is dedicated to fostering communication where producers can share ideas and collaborate effectively, ensuring that Broadway remains a dynamic and unified community.”
“One of the biggest challenges facing Broadway today is the skyrocketing production costs and the shift of investors and producers towards overseas markets like the West End," adds Kierstead. "We want to come together to address these financial hurdles by exploring new strategies to encourage investment and sustain production on Broadway.”
