Get in, losers—The Plastics are crossing the pond. Mean Girls will premiere in London's West End in June 2024 with performances at the Savoy Theatre. Dates and casting are to be announced.
Though designers have yet to be announced, Casey Nicholaw will be back to recreate his Tony-nominated direction and choreography from the musical's 2018 Broadway bow.

Based on the 2004 film with a screenplay by Tina Fey, Mean Girls follows Cady Heron as she goes from being homeschooled by her parents to being thrown into the jungle of a Chicago-area public high school. She quickly learns that The Plastics, a powerful three-girl clique led by Queen Bee Regina George, rule the school and works to take them down.
"We’re so excited to bring Mean Girls to London, where everyone already knows what Regina means," says Fey in a statement.
Fey adapted her screenplay for the musical's book, with music by Fey's husband Jeff Richmond (30 Rock, SNL) and lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde). The musical played a world premiere pre-Broadway run at The National Theatre in Washington, D.C. in 2017, and opened on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre the following year. The Broadway bow retroactively closed during the pandemic, but the musical has since played multiple tours across the U.S., including a new non-union tour that launched last week. A movie musical of the property is scheduled to hit movie theatres in January 2024 starring Renée Rapp, reprising her Broadway performance as Regina George.
The West End bow is being produced by Lorne Michaels, Sonia Friedman Productions, and David Ian for Crossroads Live.
