The Sam Gold-directed Broadway revival of William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet has revealed that it recouped its entire $7 million capitalization during its extended run at Circle in the Square Theatre, which ended February 16. The production officially opened October 24, 2024.

Starring Emmy winner Kit Connor (Heartstopper) and Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) as the star-crossed lovers, the revival, which featured music by Grammy winner Jack Antonoff and movement by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh, was a modern age retelling of the classic tragedy.

In addition to the recoupment, the production has revealed that it welcomed the youngest ticket-buying audience in recorded Broadway history. Fourteen percent of the production's ticket purchasers were aged between 18 and 24, compared to the current industry average of 3%. The production also broke the Circle in the Square Theatre's single performance gross records three separate times, with a capacity that tipped into standing room all but one week of the 20-week run.
