New York theatre company Bedlam will present Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, which was originally seen on Broadway in 1995, this fall at Off-Broadway's West End Theater.
Directed by Artistic Director Eric Tucker, previews for the five-week engagement will begin October 27 prior to an official opening November 12. Performances will continue through December 3.
The cast will feature Alan Altschuler, Lisa Birnbaum, Shaun Taylor Corbett, Caroline Grogan, Deychen Volino-Gyetsa, Mike Labbadia, Arash Mokhtar, Randolph Curtis Rand, Jamie “Smitty” Smithson, Zuzanna Szadkowski, Devin Vega, and Elan Zafir.
Stoppard’s play takes audiences back and forth between the centuries and explores the nature of truth and time, the difference between the Classical and the Romantic temperament, and the disruptive influence of sex on our orbits in life.
The upcoming production will also have scenic design by John McDermott, costume design by Charlotte Palmer-Lane, lighting design by Les Dickert, and props by Buffy Cardoza.
Trevor Nunn directed the 1995 Broadway production, which earned three Tony nominations, including Best Play. A Broadway revival was staged in 2011, directed by David Leveaux, and picked up two Tony nominations, including Best Revival of a Play.
