The Episcopal Actors’ Guild will present playwright Mervyn Rothstein's American Lives: Two One-Act Plays at Guild Hall March 3 at 7 PM for a one-night-only benefit reading.

The two one-acts, directed by Quick Silver Theater Company's Tyrone Henderson, are titled The Middle of the Journey and Back in the U.S.A. The first stars Jason Babinsky as Dr. Emanuel "Manny" Jederman and Ian Hersey as A Mysterious Man and follows a doctor faced with a pressing decision during a jog in the woods.

In the latter play, Jasmine Rush will be The Detective with Wayne Maugans as The Client and Yvette Ganier as Rebecca. It takes place in 1950s Brooklyn and follows a teenage boy who encounters a racist action.

Rothstein says, "These plays are about decisions... the decisions we make that affect our lives and the lives of others. As I was writing, I thought about what I would do, and I hope that you, in the audience, ponder what your decision would be."

Proceeds from American Lives will support NYC-based performing artists. Visit ActorsGuild.org.
