Sing Out for Freedom's 2023 concert evening will offer appearances from Broadway favorites and beloved members of the LGBTQ+ community. Benefiting The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the New York Civil Liberties Union, the concert will be held at the NYU Skirball Center November 13 at 7:30 PM.
Amber Ruffin will host this year's concert, which highlights the theme "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Fabulous." The event will honor NYCLU’s work to protect all New Yorkers from discrimination, namely their work with New Yorkers for Equal Rights to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment and work with the ACLU Drag Defense Fund to defend LGBTQ+ Rights.
Performers and presenters throughout the evening will include Peppermint, Michelle Buteau, Alexis Michelle, Hayley Kiyoko, Cheyenne Jackson, Taylor Iman Jones, Pia Toscano, VINCINT, Liana Stampur, and more to be announced shortly. Peppermint will be presented with The Michael Friedman Freedom Award.
Sing Out For Freedom was created to spotlight social injustices and civil rights issues through unforgettable, curated nights of the performing arts. The benefit concert was co-founded by Liana Stampur and Erich Bergen, along with NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman. Proceeds benefit the work of the NYCLU and the ACLU.
