Salt Lake City's Pioneer Theatre Company presents the new musical stage adaptation of the 1945 film Christmas in Connecticut beginning December 1. Performances continue through December 16. 

The musical, which made its world premiere at Goodspeed Musicals in 2022, features lyrics by Jonathan Larson Award recipient Amanda Yesnowitz, music by Jason Howland (The Great Gatsby), and a book by Patrick Pacheco and Erik Forrest Jackson. Shelley Butler is at the helm for Pioneer's staging, which is not a re-creation of the Goodspeed production. PTC Artistic Director Karen Azenberg is choreographing.

The cast, also new to the project, features Gerry McIntyre, Jamen Nanthakumar, Andy Frank, Tyler Symone, Evan Latta, Lila Prince, Myles Tracy, David Girolmo, Tiffany Denise Hobbs, Alyse Alan Louis, Christian Magby, Eric William Morris, Linda Mugleston, RJ Vaillancourt, and Sophia Campagna. 

The work follows Liz Lane, a renowned housekeeping columnist sharing a fictional life on a Connecticut farm with housewives across the country, while she actually lives in a tiny New York apartment. The musical has undergone development and fine-tuning before the Pioneer run.  

"This production sees PTC once again serving as a developmental space for new works and reinforces our mission to bring our audiences top-notch theatre they won't find anywhere else in the state," said Azenberg in an earlier statement. "Most importantly, fans of the original film will be delighted to see the story realized with a 21st-century sensibility."

Along with Butler and Azenberg, the creative team includes musical director and conductor Helen Gregory, scenic and costume designer Lex Liang, lighting designer Robert Aguilar, sound designer Aaron Hubbard, hair and makeup designer Cynthia Johnson, and production stage manager James O. Hansen.
