An industry reading of Peter Macklin's new play Bullethead will be held at the Marjorie Deane Little Theater October 16 at 1 and 4:30 PM. Scott Schwartz (The Prince of Egypt) is directing.

The work digs into the story of Harlon Carter and his influence on the NRA as it transformed from an apolitial group to the incendiary lobbying organization it is today.

John Carroll Lynch (Fargo) is leading the cast as Harlon Carter, along with Jordan Baker (Dana H.), Kevin Chacon (Jessica Jones), Nehal Joshi (The Cottage), Crystal Lucas-Perry (Ain't No Mo'), and John Leonard Thompson (Dickinson). Casting is by Judy Bowman.

Jonathan Demar and The Directors Company are producing.

“When Scott Schwartz approached me with the script for Bullethead, I was completely captivated and fascinated by this largely unknown story of Harlon Carter and his influence on the NRA," says Demar. "I really love how Peter Macklin captures it with the humor and gravitas that belongs on the stage. Developing the project thus far with Scott and Peter has been a rewarding process, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner in development than The Directors Company. With gun violence on the rise and a heated election coming up, this is a necessary and urgent story that needs to be told."

Heather Arnson of Michalos Theatrical Management is general managing, with stage management by Carolyn Reich. Makenna Remenaric is assistant stage manager. The readings will feature projection design by Mike Billings.
