John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville) will join Perfect Crime Off-Broadway later this month.

Schneider, who has spent much of the last five years as a personality on the conservative cable news network Newsmax, will join the long-running play December 13, playing the detective James Asher.

Schneider made his Broadway debut in Grand Hotel, where he took over the role of Felix Von Gaigern as a replacement cast member. In the Broadway revival of Chicago, Schneider played Billy Flynn in multiple engagements between 1996 and 2008.

The whodunit murder mystery Perfect Crime celebrates its 15,000th performance December 5 at Off-Broadway's Anne L. Bernstein Theater in Times Square's The Theater Center. The play is the longest-running play in New York City history.

Written by Warren Manzi and produced by Armand Hyatt, the show follows brilliant psychiatrist and suspected killer Margaret Brent, her wealthy husband, her deranged patient, and her love interest, a handsome detective.

Catherine Russell, who has been with the production since its beginning, stars. The murder mystery has played continually since 1987, and was the first Equity-approved production to reopen following the COVID shutdown.
