190 different shows were announced by the famed festival, the first of thousands of theatrical offerings.

Open up your calendars! The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has announced the first round of programming for its 2023 season, with 190 different shows announced to be participating. They are the first of what are sure to be thousands of theatrical offerings from the world's largest arts festival.

Some eye-catching offerings of this round include the irreverent comedy The Canonized Club: The Curious Lives and Deaths of the Saints; Texan Catherine DuBord as Zelda Fitzgerald in the solo show The Last Flapper; a musicalization of one of the world's great wits, In Search of Dorothy Parker; an adaptation of Frankenstein performed by an ensemble of immigrant performers exploring social alienation, and Anton Chekhov's short play On The Evils of Tobacco.

Returning to the Fringe will be comedy staple Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, the intimate solo show Call Me Elizabeth (about Old Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor), the internationally recognized Kenyan circus troupe The Black Blues Brothers, the sellout jukebox smash Back to Black: The Music of Amy Winehouse, comedy superstar Daniel Sloss, and more.
