The Old Vic has revealed initial casting for its upcoming presentation of Arthur Miller's The American Clock, directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin. Performances will begin at the London venue February 4, 2019, with opening night set for February 13.

To reflect the evolution of the American family, the staging will feature multiple performers playing each of the three members of the central Baum family: Amber Aga (the National's The Man of Mode), Clare Burt (Flowers for Mrs. Harris), and Golda Rosheuvel (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) as Rose, Abhin Galeya (The Ramayana) and John Marquez (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) as Moe, and Fred Haig (Follies), Jyuddah Jaymes (Twelfth Night), and Taheen Modak (ITV's The Bay) as Lee.

The company will also include Paul Bentall, Greg Bernstein, Flora Dawson, Francesca Mills, Christian Patterson, Abdul Salis, Josie Walker, and Ewan Wardrop. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

"It's essential that this production capture the epic scope of Arthur's play, which includes many races and cultures and classes," Chavkin, also currently represented on the London stage with Hadestown, said in a statement. "All the characters in the play are struggling with the shared experience of the Great Depression, and I hope that by embracing the cultural specificity of each performer, we will further deepen and expand the themes of the show."

The production is scheduled to run through March 30, 2019.

Chavkin's additional credits include Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 (her Broadway debut, for which she earned a Tony nomination) and the world premiere of the new musical Lempicka.
