From drag bars to Broadway, and now—New York's preeminent concert hall. Two-time RuPaul's Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon is playing a one-night-only concert at Carnegie Hall February 14, her debut at the venue.
Monsoon made her Broadway bow with an extended run as Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago in 2023, one of several recent star castings that sent the long-running revival's box-office soaring.
Monsoon will be backed by a band and will be joined by special guests for both original songs and cover performances that span a number of genres, including cabaret, blues, show tunes, torch songs, rock, and pop. Will Van Dyke is serving as music director for the evening, and fellow RuPaul's Drag Race star BenDeLaCreme is directing.
"I truly don’t know what to say—my whole life, I’ve listened to my idols’ voices as they sung on the stage of Carnegie Hall… and now I get to join them in the pantheon?," Monsoon said in an earlier statement. "All I know is, I’m thrilled and humbled and ready!"
