Tony winner Karen Ziemba (Contact, Steel Pier, Chicago) will play the late opera star Maria Callas in Riverside Theatre's upcoming production of Terrence McNally's Tony-winning Master Class.

Directed by DJ Salisbury, performances at the Florida venue are scheduled for February 4–23 on the Waxlax Stage.

Ziemba will be joined on stage by Jazmin Gorsline as Sophie De Palma, Tim Quartier as Anthony Candolino, Zina Ellis as Sharon Graham, and Julian Bond as Emmanuel Weinstock.

Callas' famed mentoring sessions at Juilliard are immortalized in the late McNally's Master Class, which opened on Broadway in 1995 and won Tony Awards for Best Play, Best Actress in a Play for Zoe Caldwell, and Best Featured Actress in a Play for Audra McDonald. Caldwell, who played Callas, was succeeded by Tony winner Patti LuPone and Designing Women's Dixie Carter. Oscar winner Faye Dunaway starred in the national tour, and Tony winner Tyne Daly headed the cast of the 2011 Broadway revival.

The Riverside production will also have musical direction and accompaniment by Julian Bond, scenic design by Emily Luongo, costume design by Kurt Alger, lighting design by Genny Wynn, and sound design by Craig Beyrooti.

Audrey M. Brown is the production stage manager, and Dane Urban the assistant stage manager. Casting was done in New York by The Wojcik Casting Team.
