The TKTS discount ticket booth that opened at New York’s Lincoln Center as a temporary “pop-up” operation on August 2, 2016, is going to become a permanent feature of the arts complex.
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, which partnered with the Theatre Development Fund to open a special three-month pop-up TKTS booth at the David Rubenstein Atrium’s Zucker box office at Broadway and West 62nd Street, wound up extending its operation through January 28, and announced January 26 that it will become the Theatre Development Fund’s fourth—and only indoor—TKTS discount booth in New York City. It offers the same selection of theatre tickets as the other TKTS locations in Times Square, South Street Seaport, and downtown Brooklyn. However, the Lincoln Center discounts will continue to be exclusive to the Zucker booth, according to a spokesperson.
The Zucker box office had previously offered discount tickets to shows and concerts only at Lincoln Center. Starting August 2 it also began offering discounted tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.
TKTS at Lincoln Center is open Tuesdays though Saturdays from noon to 7 PM. Same-day tickets will be sold for all available evening performances. Matinee tickets will be sold the day before the performance in addition to the day of the performance. TKTS discount tickets are mostly 50 percent off and have a per-ticket service charge of $4.50. Week-of tickets will still be available for Lincoln Center’s performances.
“For the past six months this new TKTS Discount Booth has been growing in popularity and we’ve received wonderful feedback from local residents who have already become repeat customers,” said Victoria Bailey, TDF’s executive director. “TKTS Lincoln Center offers a welcome indoor alternative to our other booths in Times Square, South Street Seaport, and downtown Brooklyn.”
TDF’s original TKTS discount booth in Duffy Square at the north end of Times Square opened on June 25, 1973.
