Olivier winner Matt Henry (Kinky Boots, The Voice, Saturday Night Fever) will play Nigel opposite Vanessa Williams's Miranda Priestly in the upcoming U.K. debut of the stage musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada.

Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the production will play a limited engagement at the Theatre Royal Plymouth beginning July 6 prior to an October 24 start at the West End's Dominion Theatre. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

In a statement Henry said, “Having been a huge fan of the film, a passion for fashion, and the fact that the role of Nigel is iconic, what’s not to love about joining the cast of The Devil Wears Prada The Musical?! Being able to draw inspiration and pay homage to the leading black men in the fashion industry, such as the amazing Edward Enninful and the late André Leon Talley is what truly excites me about taking on this incredible role.”

Based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger and the 2006 film adaptation, The Devil Wears Prada features an original score by Olivier and Tony winner Elton John, lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, and a book by Kate Wetherhead. The story follows aspiring fashion journalist Andy Sachs, who is hired as assistant to Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway Magazine, and discovers that breaking into the industry requires more than she expected.

The Devil Wears Prada had its world premiere at Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre last year. The production was directed by Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro and starred Beth Leavel and Taylor Iman Jones as Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs, respectively.

Tony winner Mitchell has assembled a new creative team for his staging, with the U.K. bow set to feature scenic design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Bruno Poet, and sound design by Gareth Owen. Casting is by Jill Green.

Ugly Betty star Williams was last seen on the West End stage in the Olivier-winning Donmar Warehouse production of City of Angels, which closed in fall 2020. On Broadway, Williams originated the role of Margaret in POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive. She earned a Tony nomination for her performance as the Witch in the 2002 Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods.

The Devil Wears Prada is produced by Kevin McCollum, Rocket Entertainment/David Furnish, and Jamie Wilson and presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
