Based on the MGM classic, Singin' in the Rain satirizes the movie industry's shift from silent film to talkies in the 1920s, following fictional Hollywood stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont as their studio looks to rescue their longtime silent screen partnership by transforming their latest flick into a movie musical. With a story by Broadway's Betty Comden and Adolph Green (On the Town, Applause), the film was conceived as a jukebox musical featuring the songs of Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown, including "Fit as a Fiddle," "All I Do Is Dream of You," "You Are My Lucky Star," "Good Morning," and the iconic title number. The stage adaptation premiered in 1983 in London's West End, playing a brief run on Broadway in 1985.

Ogunquit's production features choreography by Kristyn Pope, music direction by Matt Smedal, scenic design by Andy Walmsley, costume design by Dustin Cross, lighting design by Richard Latta, sound design by Germán Martinez, and wig design by Roxanne De Luna. Nikki Lint is production stage manager.
