The New York premiere of Milo Cramer's School Pictures begins Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons November 8 ahead of a November 20 opening night. The run will continue through December 3 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Morgan Green directs the premiere, which is part of the organization's series of innovative solo works performed by their creators. 

School Pictures debuted in November 2022 at Philadelphia's Wilma Theater. To develop the play, Cramer gathered observations from their time tutoring into a collection of witty fictional song-poem portraits of ten students, each fighting for admission to competitive New York City schools. 

"For this piece, I really wanted to be transparent about these being my observations—albeit fictionalized—and perceptions, and me talking," said Cramer in an earlier statement. "Even though I’m representing these kids, I wanted to do so in a very gentle way. I hope audiences get a sense from these portraits that even with the most obnoxious child, or the most eerily perfect child, or the most awkward child, you cannot help but love them and feel for what they’re going through.”

Playwrights Horizons' innovative series also includes the Off-Broadway premiere of Alexandra Tatarsky's Sad Boys in Harpy Land, and Ikechukwu Ufomadu's Amusements. The trio of plays are offered at a lower price point than the organization's usual programming.

The production features scenic design by Andreea Mincic, lighting design by Taylor Lilly, and sound design and music direction by Michael Kiley. Jo Fernandez is production stage manager.
