The upcoming Off-Broadway return of Sean Daniels' autobiographical comedy The White Chip has found its creative team, to be led by previously announced director Sheryl Kaller. The production will begin at Off-Broadway's Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater in The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space January 22 ahead of a February 1 opening night. Though performing at MCC's venue, the run is not an MCC production.

As previously announced, Joe Tapper is reprising his performance as Steven from the work's 2019 run at 59E59 Theaters, also helmed by Kaller. He'll be joined by Crystal Dickinson (Clybourne Park) and Jason Tam (A Chorus Line).

Also back from the 2019 run will be scenic designer Lawrence E. Moten III and sound designer Leon Rothenberg, newly joined by costume designer Devario Simmons and lighting designer Abigail Hoke-Brady. Peter Royston will stage manage, with Bethany Stewart serving as production manager. Casting is by Stephanie Yankwitt and Margaret Dunn of tbd casting co.

The production features an A-list team of producers, including John Larroquette, current Sweeney Todd star (and Tapper's wife) Annaleigh Ashford, Hank Azaria, Jason Biggs, recovery activist and writer Ryan Hampton, The Recovery Project, John Beyer, Linda Karn, Nick Mills, and Barbara Manocherian. Newly joining the roster are Shannyn Lambert, Daryl Roth, Jayne Baron Sherman, Ashley Melone, Susan Edelstein, Jacob Soroken Porter, and Beth Rosner.

Tapper is starring as Steven, on top of the world and steps away from his dream job running one of the most exciting theatres in the country but also an alcoholic spinning out of control. The play follows his life from first sip to first love and all the way to rock bottom, where he begins his wild journey to recovery.
