Video Pamela Anderson Used Broadway's Chicago to Become The Last Showgirl

The Baywatch star has already received Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for the performance.

Pamela Anderson's film role in The Last Showgirl has the Baywatch star playing a Vegas showgirl forced to figure out her next chapter after her show abruptly closes. In a recent visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers, Anderson shared that a lot of her character inspiration came from starring in Chicago on Broadway.

"The backstage banter is the same," she tells Meyers of her time in the Kander and Ebb revival in 2022. "You're talking about what you're going to have for lunch or dinner or who did what, and then you hear your cue and you go on stage. And then you go off stage, and you finish the conversation you were having." Much like Anderson's character in The Last Showgirl, several company members have been in the long-running Chicago for years, something the actor says helped her make this film role more authentic.

And notably, that's not where the stage connections end with The Last Showgirl. Written by Kate Gersten, the script is adapted from an unproduced play that was being developed by Roundabout Theatre Company under the title Body of Work. Once again, the legitimate theatre saves the day!

The Last Showgirl is currently in movie theatres, and Chicago continues its record-breaking run at the Ambassador Theatre on Broadway.
